High Times' 40th anniversary party on Thursday at The DL in New York wasn't exactly star-studded, but it did attract one Top CelebStoner, Susan Sarandon, who attended with her boyfriend, Jonathan Bricklin.
Sarandon posed with a pot lei, which were handed out at the entrance. "High Times was just like the holy catalogue, giving an organized view of something you didn’t think of as being organized,” she told New York mag. "But asked for her memories of the magazine over the years, Sarandon couldn’t help but be honest: 'This is a bad time to be asking someone to remember anything.'"
Five floors up, on the roof garden, hundreds of revelers gathered, many on the outdoor porch, which was crowded with joints and smoke the entire four hours of the open-bar stony soiree.
Also in attendance were Jackie "The Jokeman" Martling, Keith Stroup and Allen St. Pierre from NORML, Ethan Nadelmann fom the DPA, former HT editors Larry "Ratso" Sloman and Ed Dwyer, Ben Sinclair from High Maintenance, Tom Bernard from Sony Pictures Classics, Charlo Greene, Chuck Klosterman, and assorted current and former HT staffers, including this former editor.
Speaking of editors, Dan Skye has replaced Chris Simunek as editor-in-chief of High Times. Simunek held the position since June 2012.
