A Vote for Kamala Harris Is a Vote for Cannabis Legalization

Harris for President poster via Amazon

CelebStoner is proud to endorse Kamala Harris to become the 47th President of the United States.

If she wins, it will be another first for Harris, who is the first female Vice President and first women of color in that position. She did the same as California Attorney General and San Francisco District Attorney.

Harris is a semi-incumbent. Due to President Biden's increasing age and declining cognition, she has stepped up to take his place in the race against former President Donald Trump. On short notice, it's no easy task.

But Harris has navigated this new terrain like a pro, hitting the trail for the last 15 weeks. The race is deadlocked.

My goal here is to make sure all cannabis activists and professionals cast their votes for Harris. She needs and deserves our support.

Harris is often derided about her record as AG and DA, that under her watch too many marijuana offenders, especially Black men, were incarcerated. This is a false narrative. When Harris took over as AG in 2011, 817 people were admitted to prison for such crimes. By the time she left the office in 2016 to run for Senator the annual total had declined to 137. That's a drop of 83%. So, Harris did her part to reduce cannabis prisoner admissions when she was AG.

Harris was not "the queen of locking up marijuana users," as one cannabis advocate commented on a recent post at Leafwire.

"What's her plan?" the person repeatedly asked. Harris' "to-do list" of 15 items includes legalizing recreational marijuana. "We need to legalize it and stop criminalizing this behavior," Harris recently said.

No nominee for president of either party has ever proposed this. Trump certainly has not. Trump does favor recreational or adult-use legalization in Florida, but that's not becasue he's suddenly pro-pot. It's intended to lure Democratic voters to his side. But he's mostly doing this to counter Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who opposes Amendment 3. Trump is not a legalizer, Harris is.

CelebStoners for Harris

Seth Rogen: "If we want to see weed legalized on the federal level, we have to make sure Kamala Harris wins and Democrats get control of Congress."

Willie Nelson: The Texas troubadour hosted a cannabis community fundraiser for Harris on Oct. 24 and performed at her rally in Houston with Beyoncé the following night.

Neil Young: "She is an honest forthright truth teller who is experienced in the White House, free from ambiguity or evasiveness, who goes straight to the point. Clear headed, young enough to hold the office for a couple of bright future terms, Kamala Harris is a good person who is unafraid to take on criminals and uphold the law of the USA. She’s my candidate for the future of this country,"

Margo Price: "I’m voting for Kamala because she is well spoken, SANE and also because the other day she became the first ever major party presidential candidate to say that we should federally legalize weed."

Whoopi Goldberg introduced Harris on the The View: "Twenty-eight days to go until the election, so we are thrilled that joining us right now, for her very first talk show appearance and live TV interview since accepting the Democratic presidential nomination, please welcome back, the next president of the United States."

Jeff Bridges: "I'm white, I'm a dude and I'm for Harris."

Drew Barrymore to Harris: "You need to be Momala of the country."

Bil Maher on Real Time: "I predicted a month ago you’d win this thing, and if you blow it, it’s going to make me look bad."

Rick Steves: "The world needs not American isolation, but American leadership. Not the chaos of Trump but the stability of Kamala Harris... The stakes are really high and the best candidate is clear."
