Stephen Colbert took a few more jabs at the legalization movement in his latest marijuana segment, "America's Pot-astrophe."
"It's bad enough that there's medical marijuana in 18 states, and recreational pot is now legal in both Colorado and Washington," Colbert commented. "And those two states are planning to turn Idaho into a bong!"
Comparing the boom in support for legalization (now 52% of Americans favor it) to same-sex marriage, he joked: "Next thing you know stoners are going to demand the civil right to marry their Mary Jane. You may now smoke the bride!"
He described House Rep. Jared Polis as a "pro-legalization Colorado Bongressman" who's one of the "politicians cozying up to Big Spleef."
It's significant that Colbert covers cannabis-related current events. His satire, even from a right-wing perspective, is as potent as a dab hit.
