Stephen Colbert was so excited about Paul McCartney appearing on his show on June 12 that he expanded the Report to an hour, allowing for an interview, and performancse of six Beatles and Wings songs, including "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" from Sgt. Pepper's.
In his introduction (above), Colbert says the second album he ever bought was Hey Jude. "People used to buy music," he jokes, faking a toke. "The '70s were a crazy time."
Note to Colbert: The Beatles never recorded an album named Hey Jude. "Hey Jude" was released as a single only on their Apple label in 1968.
