The ever productive Willie Nelson has yet another album coming out, and for 4/20 he released a duet with Merle Haggard from Django and Jimmie, appropriately titled, "It's All Going to Pot."
The song opens with Mexican-style trumpets. Then the catchy lyrics written by Buddy Cannon, Jamey Johnson and Larry Shell begin:
It's all going to pot
Whether we like it of not
Best I can tell
The world's gone to hell
And we're all gonna miss it a lot
During the video, Nelson lights and smokes a joint and passes it to Haggard, who sings:
All the whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Just doesn't hit the spot
I gotta hundred dollar bill
You can keep your pills, friend
'Cause it's all going to pot
Then back to Willie:
Well, I thought I had found me a girl
Sweetest little thing in the world
But all my jokes went up in smoke
When I caught here makin' eyes at MerleHe said, sweet little honey
With her eye on your money
She's gonna take every penny you got
I said she's never gonna get it
'Cause I already spent it
Merle, it's all going ot pot
And together:
It's all going to pot
Whether we like it of not
Best I can tell
The world's gone to hell
And we're all gonna miss it a lot
Django and Jimmie, dedicated to two of Nelson's musical heroes, Dhango Reinhardt and Jimmie Rogers, features Haggard throughout. It will be available on June 2. Pre-order the albumĀ here.
