Hollis Brown's third album, 3 Shots, is the charm for the rock quintet hailing from Queens, New York. Named for the Bob Dylan song, "The Ballad of Hollis Brown," the quintet follows up their first two albums - Ride on the Train and Hollis Brown Get Loaded - with a confident 11-song set.
The lead track, "Sweet Tooth," is about hooking up with a dealer:
I place my order to my good friend
Now I'm waiting, waiting, waiting for him
Just to get high
To get by
Mike Montali, the band's lead singer/songwriter/guitarist says about “Sweet Tooth”:
"I was listening to all the great stoner songs that I loved - 'Rainy Day Woman" and "Waiting for the Man" - and I thought, Hey, I want to make one of those. Jon (Bonilla), our guitarist, had this delicious riff and a cool hook, and it kind of came together that way. This new record has a lot of stories and topics we wanted to shed light on and discuss, and 'Sweet Tooth' is a great example of that.”
