For the second year in a row, an American flag made from hemp fiber was hoisted above the State Capitol to celebrate Hemp History Week in Colorado (from June 7-13).
This year's hemp flag was made in Colorado by Mesa County resident Margaret Eversole for the Colorado Hemp Association.
Last year, the hemp flag flag was made by Mike Lewis and the Kentucky Cloth Project.
"We're proud to be supporting the capacity of Colorado farmers through regulatory reform, workforce development, market expansion [and] international commercial outreach to find the opportunities for the hemp industry," Gov. Jared Polis stated in 2020.
When he was a Congress member, Polis did the same at the U.S. Capitol on July 4, 2013. The Washington, DC flag was made by Hemp HoodLamb, a clothing company with stores in Denver and Amsterdam. "It came out interesting," said Adam Dunn. "It's slightly washed-out-looking so it has an antique vibe."
Hemp History Week is scheduled for July 17-23.
