The author who's penned 18 novels about Jack Reacher gets his inspiration from marijuana. "I’ve been smoking weed for 44 years, five nights a week," reveals British-born Lee Child. "I’m the poster boy to prove it doesn’t do you much harm. I have a guy on speed dial in New York who comes over with a huge range of marijuana. I smoke it in a pipe because I’ve never been any good at rolling my own joints."
Child (nee Jim Grant) says pot is part of his daily diet. "I was 14 when I smoked my first joint," he adds. "That was when I had sex for the first time, too."
The 58-year-old writer was born in English and moved to the U.S. in 1998.
Last year, Child's book, One Shot, was adapted for the movie Jack Reacher, starring Tom Cruise as the title character. Reacher is a former military cop who takes revenge against criminals. The 18th installment in the Jack Reacher saga, Never Go Back, comes out on Sept. 3.
