Rock the Bells Hip-Hop Fests Canceled

Rock the Bells

A lineup featuring Wu Tang Clan, Kid Cudi and Common wasn't strong enough to carry this year's Rock the Bells festival, which canceled its last two shows yesterday in Washington, DC and New York "due to lack of ticket sales.

"It’s extremely unfortunate that we can’t complete the last half of the 10th Anniversary Rock the Bells tour," stated Chang Weisberg of Guerrilla Union, the event's producer. "We did everything in our power to save the show. Unfortunately, the financial loss would have been devastating."

Rock the Bells expanded to four two-day festivals last year. The first two 2013 shows took place in Los Angeles and San Francisco earlier this month. The Washington show was scheduled for this weekend and New York was planned for Oct. 4-5. All tickets purchased for these shows will be refuneded.

The lineup also included Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Black Hippy, J Cole, Big Sean, Tyler the Creator, Chief Keef, KRS-One, Talib Kwali, Jarassic 5, Tech N9ne, Dilated Peoples, Curren$y, Pusha T, Immortal Technique, A$ap Mob, Supernatural, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, E-40 & To Short, Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh, Girl Talk, Action Bronson and Smoke Dza.

In addition to Rock the Bells, Guerrilla Union has produced numerous SmokeOut festivals in association with Cypress Hill in Southern California. The last SmokeOut was in 2012.
