Goodbye Snoop Lion, Hello Snoopzilla

Snoop Dogg is trading his Rasta tam for a full-blown afro as he transitions from Bob Marley disciple Snoop Lion to George Clinton acolyte Snoopzilla.

"Right now, what's necessary is Snoopzilla," he tells Rolling Stone, "because this is the funk, and may the funk be with you."

Snoopzilla is based on Bootsy Collins' funbkateer character Bootzilla. It's a song on Collins' third solo album, Bootsy? Player off the Year, in 1978.

The Snoopzilla project is being produced by Dam-Funk.
