The much-awaited Super Bowl contest between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks is just days away. Who's a stoner to root for?
Bill Maher has gone on record favoring the Broncos because Colorado is "the Jackie Robinson of pot." Since Colorado became the first state to implement legal sales of marijuana for all uses on Jan. 1, this makes Denver the prohibitive stoner favorite to win the Bowl on Feb. 2
While Washington State is lagging behind (sales should start there by the spring), there are still some compelling reasons to support Seattle, such as Phish's endorsement of the team's quarterback Russell Wilson; the jam-band's song "Wilson" has been a staple at Seattle games this season. Also, CB Brandon Browner was suspended by the NFL for testing positive for pot; he'll ride the bench on Stoner Bowl Sunday.
Colorado has a player who ran afoul of the league's substance abuse policy as well: LB Vonn Miller sat out the first six games off the season for submitting a diluted urine sample; he'd already been flagged for weed and speed in 2011.
Let us know who you're rooting for to win the first-ever Stoner Bowl.
