Snoop Dogg has joined Wyclef Jean in support of Colorado grassroots gubernatorial candidate Mike Dunafon. However, the Yes We Cannabis festival he was supposed to perform at Infinity Park in Glendale on Halloween weekend on Dunafon's behalf at has been cancelled.
Snoop Dogg recently posted a photo of himself with Dunafon on Instagram with the caption: "Thanks mayor! I mean governor."
"Snoop and Mike spent a few minutes talking about their common goals and unity of vision," Dunafon's campaign manager Patrick Guthrie says. "Snoop volunteered to do all of this.”
Just last week Wyclef and Dunafon released a video for their song, "The Trap." Listen to th remix featuring Snoop Dogg above.
The relevant question is: Could Dunafon, who is mayor of Glendale and whose wife owns a strip club, play the spoiler in Colorado's tight governor's race between Democratic incumbent John Hickenlooper and Republican challenger Bob Beauprez? The latest CNN/ORC poll has Hickenlooper leading by one point, 49% to 48%.
Hickenlooper recently put his foot in his mouth when he called marijuana legalization in Colorado "reckless." (He amended that statement to "risky.") Either way, Hickenlooper did little to endear himself to the state's pro-pot voters, many of whom just may mark Dunafon's name on their ballots instead.
