Ben & Jerry's co-founder Ben Cohen delivered the keynote address at the Marijuana Business Conference & Expo in Las Vegas on Nov. 13. The ice cream legend says marijuana's "a lot safer than alcohol."
In an interview with MMJ Business Daily, who's running the conference, Cohen explains:
'I’ve always viewed marijuana as a substance that is safe, that’s beneficial and enjoyable, and that has tremendous health benefits. It’s also good just for people who want to relax.'
Asked if he's interested in getting involved in the burgeoning cannabis industry, Cohen notes, "I might."
He compares marijuana business to "the organic food industry, which was essentially started by true believers - alternative kinds of people who are very entrepreneurial. Then eventually the big food companies and venture capitalists came in. At first the big food companies were fighting it, then they realized, 'Oh man, there’s money to be made here,' and they ended up buying out these small entrepreneurs. That’s what I see happening in your industry."
Cohen is scheduled to speak at 10:15 am on Nov. 13. The conference is being held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino. Check out the conference agenda here.
