Just days after Zayn Malik blew off One Direction's shows in Manila, he quit the group. A Filipino anti-drug group wanted One Direction to be drug tested when they arrived in the country. Their focus was on Malik and Louis Tomlinson, who videotaped themselves smoking a joint last May in Peru. Officials in the Philippines decided to make the group pay a $5,000 so-called drug bond each for Malik and Tomlinson. Instead, Malik claimned he was stressed and wouldn't be performing at the Manila show or the rest of One Direction's Far East tour.
The group, Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino, posted a photo of One Direction's Zayn Malik smoking a joint on Facebook with the headline: MARIJUANA SCANDAL - NO DRUG TEST, NO ENTRY.
One source is saying Malik was tossed out of the group because of his alcohol and drug use: "Management ordered Zayn to take a break because there are concerns for his wellbeing. He chose not to get clean and that's when they parted ways."
