Longtime marijuana legalization advocate Willie Nelson is joining the Green Rush. He plans to create branded strains under the name Willie's Reserve.
Nelson's team sent CelebStoner the following backgrounder on their pot plan:
"In 2014, Willie Nelson founded a company to develop plans for a national, premium-branded cannabis business.
"Willie Nelson’s participation in a recreational cannabis business marks a major milestone for the longtime advocate for marijuana normalization.
"He's been a vocal supporter of the progress realized in the 'legalize it, regulate it and tax it' approach, as seen in Colorado and Washington. He has noted that it’s good for people (providing access and safety), good for the economy (innovation, businesses and jobs) and good for governments (tax revenue).
"Vision for the company is to help shape the future of a newly emerging category by bringing the wisdom of experience – helping people find and enjoy the highest quality and consistency in the adult-use cannabis market.
'The brand is called Willie’s Reserve. It will launch in Colorado and Washington in summer 2015. The first products will be representative of what Willie knows best, and is best known for: traditional cannabis flower, pre-rolled joints and the vaporizers he’s begun using in recent years. All will be derived from some of the best strains available, produced by master growers, using leading sustainable and natural practices.
"He’s also working with industry experts to expand the line to include other form factors, such as edibles, over time.
"Together the collection of products represents a turning point – artist-curated selection of products that reflects personal experience. Smoking with Willie is an oft-cited bucket list item among fans of the music and fans of the herb. For consumers in the two states, Willie’s Reserve will provide access to 'The Legendary Stash.'”
