Roseanne Barr's proposed Santa Ana dispensary, Roseannne's Joint, has gone up in smoke. "It didn't work out for me and the investor," she now says, referring to CalCann Holdings' Aaron Herzberg.
Last February, news broke that Barr had become an investor in a Santa Ana dispensary with Herzberg, her former attorney, at the 1327 E. St. Gertrude Place location.
In a press release, she stated then:
'I’m proud to be a cultural pioneer at the forefront of another wave of progress. We’re proud of the city of Santa Ana as we continue to move into the era of recognizing cannabis as the natural, therapeutic, herbal substance medical science has proven it to be. Roseanne’s Joint will be a responsible, contributing member of, and addition to, the community.'
The store was supposed to be stocked with Barr's own branded pot products. “We think it will bring credibility and a good name and frankly, good values,” Herzberg said. “But we also hope that it will create within the community a sense that marijuana is here to stay in California, that it’s getting legitimized and that serious names are coming to the table.”
Barr uses cannabis to treat glaucoma and macular degeneration. "It’s good for me because I have pressure in my eyes," she acknowledged last year. "It’s a good medicine for a lot of things. It’s expansive. It opens your mind. You look up into the stars. It makes you wonder. It doesn’t close that down.”
The comedian is best known for the hit sitcom, Roseanne, which ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1988–1997.
Meanwhile, B-Real's shop, Dr. Greenthumb, in Santa Ana has yet to open.
