The most reviled marijuana-themed TV show of all time is no more. Netflix confirmed that Disjointed will not be back for a third season.
The Hollywood Reporter reports:
"The series, written on spec, landed at Netflix with a straight-to-series, 20-episode order following a competitive situation with broadcast and streaming outlets bidding... The decision to cancel 'Disjointed' comes as Netflix continues to refine scripted (shows)."
Disjointed stars Kathy Bates as Los Angeles dispensary owner Ruth Whitefeather Feldman. She eats up every scene. However, the cast around her is a bunch of unknowns. For part of or Season 2, Pete Rieghert plays her reluctant boyfriend.
The Hollywood Reporter also notes that "the series has a 23% rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 80% user score."
Users on Facebook rejoiced about the cancellation:
• "Hallelujuh! Terrible show and hated the way they represent the cannbis industry." (Anh Solis)
• "Thank God. What an embarassment for our industry." (Eric Henry)
• "What a garbage show." (Nate Purcell)
• "It was lame, stupid and immature." (Leonard Selph)
• "I felt stupid for watching it." (Kendall Mogi)
There were some good things about the show. Disjointed drew attention to soldiers and athletes with PTSD, and what it's like to be raided. But it was no Weeds or, for that matter, High Maintenance.
