Three of our favorite women have joined together for a very special contest. Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson of Comedy Central's Broad City are giving away a signed bong to one lucky Cynthia Nixon supporter. The actress is challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York's gubernatorial race.
"This may be a silly contest but it's a serious issue," the Cynthia for New York website admits.
The contest runs until July 16. Enter here.
However, it may not be legal. “Cynthia Nixon, by offering drug paraphernalia, as defined by federal law, could run afoul of federal law, but the lucky winner would not be,” says New York defense attorney Ron Kuby, who famously worked alongside radical lawyer William Kunstler. “I would be thrilled to represent her pro bono should (U.S. Attorney General Jeff) Sessions and his band of trolls arrest her.”
At the contest page, Glazer and Jacobson explain why they're supporting Nixon:
"We met Cynthia for the first time when she guest starred on Broad City (she was j’amazing, thanks again Cynthia!). Like us, Cynthia is a huge supporter of legalizing weed. Which might not seem like a big issue, but trust us it is. Legalization is a matter of racial justice. 80% of New Yorkers arrested for weed are black or Latino, even though we all know there are just as many white kids smoking it."
Nixon has made marijuana legalization and arrest disparities due to race a cornerstone issue in her campaign to unseat the incumbent governor.
