The family of Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia has announced the launch of Garcia Hand Picked cannabis products. They'll be available in California pot shops in November and will eventually roll out in the other legal states.
Flower options include sativas Chemdog and Green Lantern, indicas Peanut Butter Souffle and SFV OG and hybrids Fire OG and OG Chem. The following Jerry Garcia Band song pairings are suggested:
Sativa - Tangled Up in Blue, Might as Well, Deal
Indica - After Midnight > Eleanor Rigby, Mission in the Rain, Gomorrah
Flower is in jars or as prerolls. Gummies shaped-like guitar picks (Jerry's Picks) are also part of the Garcia Hand Picked product line.
The Garcia family has teamed up with Holistic Industries, based in Washington, DC, on this project.
Garcia's daughter Trixie Garcia states:
"We handpicked the best possible partner in Holistic Industries to create this brand in Jerry’s honor in an authentic way that would delight the fans. After a five-year search for the right partner to bring this idea to fruition, we chose Holistic based on shared values, a proven track record of successful operations, scalability across multiple states and their ability to launch and market new brands; not to mention they have a senior leadership team full of Deadheads.”
Holistic has two stores under the Liberty name in Maryland and California. “We saw this partnership as a unique opportunity to honor Jerry’s legacy in a fun and authentic way while leveraging the unwavering popularity of the Grateful Dead, demonstrated by a new generation of fans and recent brand collaborations, to create what will be one of the first truly national brands in cannabis,” says CEO Josh Genderson. “Quality and wanting the best of the best is one of the core values that we share with Jerry Garcia, and because of this we went to great lengths to ensure every aspect of this brand is of the highest quality, from plant genetics to packaging design."
The two companies are planning a barnstorming tour in an RV dubbed Bertha (see above), described by Holistics' CMO Kyle Barich as "a custom, COVID-friendly Airstream that will start touring dispensaries throughout California in November, filled with merchandise, music and magic.”
