Bronx pop star Cardi B - known for such No. 1 hits as "I Like It" and "WAP" - thinks club music is too slow these days and blames it on pot smoking and lean, the cough syrup concoction popular in hip-hop.
"These rappers nowadays, all of them wanna die,” she recently said on IG Live. “They all wanna die. All these n****s need to stop doing lean and smoking weed. You know, this the thing about these rappers, right? They get money and they start buying too much muthafuckin’ weed, and too much lean and they make that slow shit. The club need me. The strippers need me. The hoes need me. The muthafuckin’ get money n****s need me. I wanna shake my ass!”
Cardi's latest No. 1, "Up," is typically risqué for her.
Cardi B (nee Belcalis Almánzar) has been dealing with a criminal assault case since 2018 when she allegedly threw bottles and drinks at bartenders during a melee in a Queens strip club. Court documents claim the attack was premeditated. Cardi pleaded not gulity in 2019. The case has yet to be resolved.
