Some people just don't care for cannabis.
Stevie Wonder, who turns 72 today, is among them. In 2012, he told The Guardian:
"When I was 21 I smoked marijuana and I didn't like the way it made me feel. When I woke up the next morning I felt like I'd lost part of my brain. I'm not better than the next person. But I've never had a desire to do drugs."
It's unclear if Wonder has since used marijuana medicinally. The singer became blind after his birth in Saginaw, Mich. in 1950.
Ironically, there's a strain named for Stevie Wonder. According to Leafly:
"(It's) a sativa-dominant hybrid born from the famed foursome of Trainwreck, Sensi Star, Bubba Kush, and Blueberry. These large, frosted buds are a patchwork of sage and dark greens, scented with sweet berry and earthy notes. Stevie Wonder offers a subtle relaxation throughout the body, but even stronger are its uplifted, cerebral-focused effects. Patients have reported this strain’s success in treating migraines, nausea and pain. Stevie Wonder is available through Bodhi seeds or as a clone in the Colorado area."
That sounds about right. Wonder's music has uplifted fans since he debuted on Motown in the early '60s as Little Stevie Wonder. Over the years he's won 25 Grammys and been nominated 74 times. Wonder earned Album of the Year awards in 1973 (Innervisions), 1974 (Fulfillingness' First Finale) and 1976 (Songs in the Key of Life).
