Willie Nelson's Rep on Him 'Not Feeling Well' and Missing Shows: 'It's Not Serious'

via Live Nation Entertainment

Willie Nelson skipped the opening weekend of the Outlaw Music Festival on June 21-23 due to an unspecified illness. His son Lukas filled in for him. Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and Celisse are also on the bill.

The three missed shows were:

• Amens Bank Amphitheatre, Alpharetta, GA

• PNC Bank Center, Charlotte, NC

• Coastal Credit Union Music Park, Raleigh, NC

Nelson is expected to return for the show at Veteran United Home Loans Amphitheatre in Virginia Beach on June 26.

The first leg of the tour runs through July 7 with shows in Syracuse NY (June 28); Wantagh, NY (June 29); Holmdel, NJ (June 30); Mansfield, MA (July 2); Bethel, NY (July 6); and Hershey, PA (July 7).

On June 21, Nelson's camp announced via social media the 91-year-old country-music legend was "not feeling well," but was "expected to make a full recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival next week."

Nelson's publicist Elaine Shock told CelebStoner: "It's not serious."

Nelson suffers from emphysema due to cigarette smoking earlier in his life.

It's not the first time Nelson has missed shows due to illnesses and injuries:

• In 2019, he postponed eight shows due to breathing issues.

• In 2018, he had difficulty breathing and left the stage during a show near San Diego. Diagnosed with the flu, he postponed the next eight shows.

• In 2019, he postponed three shows due to a shoulder injury.
