Method Man Accused of Beating a Man in New York

Clifford Smith (a.k.a. Method Man posing for "Power Book II: Ghost

Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man (nee Clifford Smith) has been accused of assaulting a 28-year-old man in Staten Island, NY. The incident took place at a Crunch Fitness center.

Smith knows the man he allegedly punched in the face seven times. Patrick Sokoya reportedly had a previous relationship with Smith's daughter.

Sokoya refused medical attention but did file a police complaint.

However, Billboard quotes Smith's rep saying:

“Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency.”

Smith was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his portrayal of defense attorney Davis MacLean in Starz's Power Book II: Ghost.

He regularly tours with Wu-Tang Clan and does shows for the stoner crowd with Redman, especially around 4/20. The duo co-starred in How High in 2001.
