Strapped to his motorized wheelchair, Curtis Kile's 500-mile road trip began on June 14. This cerebral palsy sufferer and medical marijuana advocate hoped to meet Pres. Obama when he arrived at the White House on July 4.
Kile, who's 52, and his son, Curtis Jr., took off from their home in Taylor, Michigan. While dad scootered along, junior followed him in a van. They camped out at night.
On the back of his chair, the cardboard sign read in part: "I am rolling my wheelchair to Washington, DC in support of legalizing cannabis…"
Update: Kile actually showed up at the White House at 8 pm on July 3. He came back the next day and spoke at a human rights rally. But his objective of meeting the president never happened. "I don’t think the trip was a waste," Kile said. "We were able to draw attention to the issue."
