1. Uruguay Legalizes It!
The tiniest country in South America made the biggest news in 2013 when the legislature passed a bill to legalize marijuana. Pres. Jose Mujica, who encouraged the shift, swiftly signed the bill into law. Residents will soon be able to purchase government-grown weed (40 grams per month) from pharmacies. They can start growing six plants now.
