6. Illinois and New Hampshire Pass Medical Marijuana Bills
Twenty states now allow patients to use medical cannabis for a variety of ailments. In July, New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan signed a bill that creates four state-run dispensaries and lets patients possess two ounces. In August, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn did the same. A much larger state, Illinois will have 60 dispensaries. Patients can possess 2.5 ounces. Also, in May, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley signed a bill that calls for the creation of "academic medical centers" to distribute marijuana. None as of yet have stepped forward.
