She's Snoop Dogg and many others' new hero. Charlo Greene, who quit her TV reporter job at KTVA in Anchorage on air to focus on legalizing marijuana in Alaska, goes at length to explain what motivated her stunning revelation in a four-minute self-produced video (see below).

"Who is willing to take a stand?" asks Greene (a.k.a Charlene Egby), who is president of the Alaska Cannabis Club.
'I'm not afraid, clearly. But if you are, I don't judge you or any other man. Advocating for freedom and fairness should be everyone's duty. I'm making it my life's work.'
She cites the following marijuana-bust statistics: "Americans are arrested every 37 seconds, Alaskans every 4.3 hours. Last year in Alaska there were 669 arrests, 2,697 in the past three years."
Greene left her job to focus on legalizing marijuana in Alaska full-time, by doing everything she can to support Measure 2, which will be voted on in November. "We smokers are responsible, contributing members of society," she says. "Changing one heart at a time is the only way to legalize marijuana. Voting Yes on 2 is a vote for liberty, freedom and fairness."

Greene tells Vice:
'I’m Alaskan. Alaskans smoke weed. It just is what it is'
"But I first tried it when I was in high school, and I didn’t like it at all, so I quit completely and I just drank like, a ton, which is also a really big issue here in Alaska… I knew that alcohol, as a vice, wasn’t going to allow me to become the person I was meant to be. So I needed something else to do that maybe wasn’t so harmful, and I picked up smoking weed. I went from failing an entire semester, to the next semester, and every semester after that, being on the Dean’s List. I graduated cum laude. And that’s because I was smoking weed!"
