6. NFL Loosens Rules for Marijuana Positives
It was rough year for the NFL. With the league slow to react to assault charges agains several players, Commissioner Roger Goodell sought ways to deal with this and other issues, such as the excessive suspensions of players who violate the substance-abuse policy. More than two dozen players were docked going into the 2014 season, mostly for drug offenses. That policy has been changed so that it now takes a fourth offense (such as a positive drug test) for a suspension to kick in. The threshold for a postivie result has gone from 15 ng/nl to 35 ng/nl.
