2. Jamaica Decriminalized Ganja
The reggae island moved ahead with its decrim plans, which began in 2014. In February, the legislature passed the bill with several amendments. The new law – possession of two ounces is a non-arrestable offense – went into effect on Feb. 6, Bob Marley's birthday. Two months later, Pres. Obama visited Jamaica and toured the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston. In November, High Times staged its first Cannabis Cup in Negril.
