Spannabis Lodges Protest vs. 'Fake High Times Cannabis Cup Spain'

"Spannabis denies any kind of relationship with High Times."

High Times' plan to expand its Cannabis Cup to Spain was short-lived. After announcing in a post on February 11 that the event would take place in Barcelona from March 5-8 and the winners would be announced "on the main stage during the Spannabis 2020 festival," Spannabis protested and posted a meme calling it the "Fake High Times Cannabis Cup Spain" on Twitter.

Spannabis is scheduled for March 13-15 in Barcelona. It's Spain's premiere cannabis event.

"For the first time ever, High Times will bring its Cannabis Cup competition to Spain's famous international expo," High Tmes said in its announcement. "In March, the Cup will take place against the backdrop of Spannabis 2020, one of the largest international cannabis festivals in the world."

In a point-by-point rebuttal, Feria del Cáñamo SL, the company that owns Spannabis, made it clear that "there is no relationship or collaboration between Spannabis and High Times," stating: "We want to deny all this information."

While the announcement is still posted at hightimes.com, the link to HIgh Times Cannabis Cup Spain is broken.

The bad blood between High Times and Spannabis dates back to last year when High Times claimed it had reached an aggreement to buy Spannabis. That deal fell through.
