Distinctions: One of the four original Monkees, he performed with group on their many hits: "Last Train to Clarksville" (No. 1, 1966), "I'm a Believer" (No. 1, 1966), "Daydream Believer" (No. 1, 1967), "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You" (No. 2, 1966), "Pleasant Valley Sunday" (No. 3, 1967), "Valleri" (No. 3, 1968) and "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" (No. 20, 1966). Singer Davey Jones passed away in 2012. Guitarist Michael Nesmith and drummer Micky Dolenz are the surviving members.
