Joe Rogan on Prince Harry, Mushrooms, Texas Weed and Being High in Airports

What happens when you smoke too much weed in Texas, according to Joe Rogan in his Netflix special.

Say what you want about Joe Rogan, but one thing is undeniable: He's a quality stand-up comic. His latest special, Joe Rogan: Burn the Boats on Netflix, covers a lot of territory: controversial subjects like Covid, trans people, Elon Musk and Alex Jones. But in most cases he doesn't double down on these topics. He reasonably tries to explain his unorthodox opinions. Rogan, who hosts the popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, describes himself as a "professional shit-talker."

I mostly tuned in for his drug humor, which there is plenty of. Right from the start he talks about weed in Texas, where he moved to a few years ago (the show takes place in San Antonio).

"Texas weed is different because Texas weed is grown on Texas soil. I believe the soil has memories, 'cause if you smoke too much Texas weed, it's like..." He mimes a fake toke, then breaks into another voice: "We've got to give the land back. What the fuck did they do?"

HIgh In the Airport

In one of the show's best bits, Rogan jokes about how he likes to "take edibles" before boarding planes.

"Two hundred milligrams is the right dose. If you want to know what's in the basement, you've got to go downstairs, you've got to look around...

"The airport is the best place to be high in public, 'cause no one notices, 'cause everyone is acting weird. When you're high you blend right in with those folks."

Rogan's a fan of TSA Pre-Check, which he "really recommends if you'e not a terrorist," adding: "It's a solid deal. If you give the government money, they'll let you keep your shoes on."

Mushrooms with Prince Harry

"Could you imagine doing mushrooms with Prince Harry?" Rogan wonders about the royal rebel who admitted to eating psychedelic fungi in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

"There's a moment when you do mushrooms, like 20 minutes after you swallow it, when you know you can't throw it up anymore," the psychonaut explains. "Mushrooms take about 40 minutes to kick in, but about 35 minutes in you hear them coming. You hear footsteps in the distance. Meanwhile, Prince Harry is tripping balls."
