High Times and Wall Street Journal faced off again in theĀ New York Media Softball League playoffs on Sunday. High Times won, 6-0, but then lost to Institutional Investor in the championship game, 12-6.
HT (11-1) and WSJ (10-2) were the top two teams going into the playoffs, which took place at the Hecksher Playground ballfields in Central Park.
WSJ fell meekly to HT in the semifinals, ending their four-year run as NYMSL champs. League newcomer I-I advanced to the title match by defeating Forbes, 14-7. Both came into the playoffs with 7-5 records.
HT took an early 3-1 lead. But I-I came back with 4 runs in the 2nd and 6 in the 3rd. HT rallied with 2 in the 7th but it was too little and too late. It was the fourth year in a row that HT lost in the championship round.
The other teams in the NYMSL are DC Comics, WNYC and Newsweek Daily Beast.
