No-hitters are a rarity in baseball. Pitching two against the same team in less than a year is an anomaly. That's what Giants ace Tim Lincecum did against the Padres yesterday, winning 4-0.
Last July 13, Lincecum tamed the weak-hitting Pads, 9-0. In yesterday's game, he walked just one batter and struck out six delivering 113 pitched at AT&T Park in San Francisco. By contrast it took 148 pitches for him to make history a year ago.
Add the no-hitters to back-to-back Cy Young Awards Lincecum (a.k.a. The Freak) received in 2008 and 2009. He's 6-5 with 4.42 ERA so far in 2014.
Lincecum was arrested for marijuana possession in 2009.
