Cowboys' Randy Gregory Suspended One Year for Multiple Pot Positives

Randy Gregory has failed numerous drug tests for marijuana during his years at Nebraska and the Cowboys.

Second-year defensive end Randy Gregory failed three drug tests for THC in 2015 and was suspended for four games at the start of the 2016 season.

After returning from the suspension, Gregory missed a drug test and was docked for another 10 games by the NFL. He came back and played the last two games of the regular season for the Cowboys, missed another test and now has been suspended for an entire year

Drafted in the second round of the 2015 draft by Dallas out of Nebraska, Gregory was expected to go higher until he failed a drug test for marijuana at the NFL Combine. "The last thing I want to do is fail another drug test and be out of the league," Randy Gregory said in May 2015. While in college, he also failed several drug tests.

After the Combine test, the 6-5, 255-pound Indiana native stated:

'The fact that I smoked (marijuana) in the past isn't a mystery. I was worse at Nebraska than I've ever been any other time in my life. I don't wake up everyday saying, I'd really like to go smoke. It's not a struggle for me every day (now). In the past, hell yeah, it's been a struggle. It really has been.'

In his rookie season, Gregory recorded just 11 tackles and no sacks in 12 games. He had his first NFL sack in the final game of the 2016 season. The latest suspension will force Gregory to miss the playoffs. The 13-3 Cowboys are a leading contender to go to the Super Bowl.
