Super Bowl 56 (SB LVI) is a clash of teams that were not expected to get to the ultimate game.
The AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals are four-point underdogs. The NFC champion Los Angeles Rams are playing at home at the new SoFi Stadium. The Rams won the Super Bowl in 2000. The Bengals have never won the Super Bowl.
Kick-off is at 6:30 pm ET Sunday, Feb. 13 on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
The halftime entertainment will feature Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.
Now, for the big question:
Who to Root For?
If you live in Southern California and are not a Chargers fan, you will most likely be pulling for the Rams, who relocated there from St. Louis in 1994. Of course, California is one of the country's 18 adult-use legal cannabis states. Retail sales increase by as much as 33% over Super Bowl weekend.
The Rams have several star players: QB Matthew Stafford, WRs Odell Beckman Jr. and Cooper Cupp and LB Von Miller.
If you live in Ohio or Kentucky, the Bengals are your team. Two years ago, they won just two games. Now, they're in SB LVI. Ohio is one of the U.S.' 37 medicalized states. Ohio also led the way in 1975 when the legislature decriminalized cannabis. However, the state is much more conservative now and voted for Donald Trump for president in both 2016 and 2020. Smoking is not alllowed in the current medical program.
The Bengals are led by third-year QB Joe Burrow, who's a big fan of fellow Ohioan, rapper and CelebStoner Kid Cudi.
The Verdict
The Rams are the team to beat, playing in the cradle of California cannabis. Final score:
Rams 31, Bengals 30
Rams win, Bengals cover.
