More than two decades after the release of Dazed and Confused, Richard Linklater is going back to school. The sequel, named after the Van Halen song, "Everybody Wants Some," is due out next April.
Here's the synopsis:
"It’s the last weekend of freedom before college starts. A 'spiritual sequel' to Dazed and Confused and set in the world of 1980 college life, Everybody Wants Some is a comedy that follows a group of friends as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood. Get ready for the best weekend ever."
None of the stars from the 1993 stoner film - Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Parker Posey, Jason London, Joey Lauren Adams, Rory Cochrane, MIlla Jovovich - will appear in the sequel. Like the original, it features a cast of unknowns, including Ryan Guzman, Zoey Deutch, Tyler Hoechlin, Wyatt Russell and Blake Jenner.
Linklater won Best Director for his last film, Boyhood, at the 2015 Golden Globes. He also received three Oscar nominations for the brilliant Boyhood.
