7. Cartel Land
Similar to last year's Drug Lord: The Legend of Shorty, Matthew Heineman's doc set in Mexico is actually far superior. Vigilantes both within the country and at the border declare war on the drug cartels that are terrorizing citizens. The better of the two stories focuses on Dr. Jose Mireles, who leads Autofefensas in Michoacán. Bearing arms, they take back towns that have been overrun by the cartels. Mireles becomes a target himself, but (spoiler alert) manages to survive.
