Truly one of the best sequels ever, Danny Boyle delivers big time as he reassembles the original Trainspotting cast for a major showdown nearly 20 years later. Renton (Ewen McGregor) returns to Scotland penniless after stealing the heroin stash years ago. He tries to make amends with Simon (Jonny Lee Miller) and the still-addicted Spud (Ewen Bremmer), but eventually goes head-to-head with Begbie (Robert Carlisle), who escapes from a hospital. It's really Spud's movie, and a nice added touch is Simon's sexy girlfriend Veronika (Anjela Nedyalkova). Boyle went on to win an Oscar in 2009 for Slumdog Millionaire and shows his considerable moviemaking skills in this long-awaited followup.
