August 1 is the late Grateful Dead guitarist/singer/songwriter/co-founder Jerry Garica's birthday. Born in 1942, he would've been 77 today. Garica died on August 9, 1995. Hence, Aug. 1-9 is now know in Deadhead circles as The Days Between, after the Garica/Robert Hunter song.
One way to celebrate Garcia's birthday is to attend a "Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies" screening happpening in movie theaters all over the country. The movie features the July 17, 1991 Dead show at Giants Stadium (it was replaced by MetLife Stadium) in New Jersey. Find one closet to you here.
