George Clinton celebrated reaching 100,000 followers on Instagram with the above video on August 14.
"I want to thank my 100,000 followers," the leader of Parliament Funkadelic (a.k.a. P-Funk) announces. Then he starts freestyling as Eddie Hazel plays guitar.
"Let's trip on out, Eddie."
"Billy Bass Nelson, Eddie Hazel, Tiki Fulwood, Bernie Worrell, Al Roth," Clinton calls out, referring to players who were in his band.
Several mini or toy motherships are displayed on the lawn. Back on the porch, Clinton lights a joint and signs off with his immortal motto:
"Free your mind and your ass will follow."
Clinton, who turned 79 on July 22, is missing his trademark braids or dreads in the video. Last year, prior to the Covid outbreak, he played a number of farewell shows. However, those shows proved to be so popular that he remained on tour and had big plans for 2020.
Clinton's song "Atomic Dog" is used in the current ETrade TV commerical (watch below).
