It should have been a big week for Nipsey Hussle. The Los Angeles rapper, who was shot and killed in 2019, owned a clothing shop where he sold Marathon merch out of the front door and high-end weed out of the back. His Marathon OG strain was a favorite of Snoop Dogg who appears in The Marathon Cultivation Documentary posted above. The video hypes the June 18 opening of The Marathon Collective dispensary at 7011 Canoga Ave. in Canoga Park.
Meanwhile, Eric Holder Jr., charged with murdering Hussle (nee Ermias Asghedom), went on trial. Holder and Hussle allegedly had a beef that led to the shooting.
Update: On July 6, Holder Jr. wasa found guilty of first-degree murder.
The documentary shows how Marathon went from legacy to legal. They hunt down a license and prepare for the store opening. Hussle is shown in a growroom and in a number of other scenes.
Beloved in his native L.A., Hussle's 2018 Grammy nominated album Victory Lap featured Kendrick Lamar, Puff Daddy and Cee-Lo Green. He had four other nominations and has won twice posthumously.
